Project Hope Grand Opening Celebration

The Grand Opening for Project Hope's new environmentally friendly Community Building was filled with food, fun, and friends. The celebration included fabulous food catered by JAKS and Haley House, entertainment from The Floor Lords, Adam Littlejohn, Valerie Caldwell, and Marilinda & Bianca Garcia, and self-guided tours of our earth friendly building.

 

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place with (left to right) Representative Linda Dorcena Forry, Roberta Rubin, Project Hope Board Member, Joe Flatley, President of Mass Housing Investment Corp, Margaret Leipsitz, Vice President Community Relations at Putnam Senior Executives Foundation, Charlotte Golar Richie, Chief & Director of Department of Neighborhood Development, Representative Marie St. Fleur, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Margaret Leonard, Executive Director of Project Hope, and Chuck Turner, Boston City Councilor.

Karen Holmes-Ward of WCVB Channel 5 watches as Sr. Margaret Leonard talks to the guests. Ms. Holmes-Ward later announced that Project Hope's shelter will be the next site for WCVB's Extreme Makeover: Hometown Edition.

Nilaya, a former resident of Project Hope's shelter, is now working on achieving her Associate's Degree.
Lateia, a former student of the Adult Learner Program at Project Hope, attended the Grand Opening with her family. Lateia achieved a GED, a bachelor's degree, and finally a doctorate in Pharmacy in only six years.
