Mateus Barbosa, Deputy Director of Programs & Community Engagement

Mateus Barbosa came to Project HOPE on September 18, 2023, from Catholic Social Services and Urban College. He brings a wealth of clinical and managerial experience, particularly with children, adolescents, families, and adults in foster care, residential programs, and community settings.

 As Deputy Director of Programs and Community Engagement, he is responsible for all the daily operations of Project HOPE’s services. He provides agency-wide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and training to all program managers. Barbosa is vital to the Senior Management team and executes efficient processes and procedures across management, administration, and programs. Barbosa’s educational background includes an M.S. in Criminal Justice from American International, an M.Ed. in Education/Mental Health Counseling from Cambridge College, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Tufts University. Barbosa is also a faculty member at Urban College of Boston. He is Fluent in Portuguese and Cabo Verdean Creole.
